The Beginning: Why Start A Blog and The Introduction

After watching from afar so many of my friends, people I admire, and even my sister start setting up a blog, I knew I had to at least give it a try. I mean, after all, I love to read and write, so this should be easy, right? Well, maybe the writing the blog posts and posting would be, but nothing much else.

But the real push for me, or I guess pushes since there were two things, was a post I saw on GoodReads, and yet another failed trial product for me. And I thought, people should know about these things. People should at least have the information at their fingertips in case they decide to look it up. And so, The Malmal Experience was born.

The product in question was Curology. Although, to be honest, it could have been many other products before it. But Curology was the one I finally decided people had to know about. I'll be going in-to-depth about Curology and my experience on a separate post, but, essentially, I was mad. But mostly mad, because influencers had lied to me about the price point while also using the price point of other brands that I know and love as a negative.

The post on GoodReads was simple. I don't have the exact quote, as I was scrolling and don't even remember who it came from. But, it essentially said I don't know who needs to hear this, but blogging isn't about the amount of people who see it or how many products you get for free, but the enjoyment involved with creating.

And wow. I thought, let's try this again.

So, why the name?

The name is a play on my last name, and a nickname given by a friend in college: Malmal. It makes my hard to swallow last name a little easier, and a little cuter. And the "experience" portion was chosen since I knew one of the main things I wanted to do was let people know how my "experience" with certain products went. My goal is mostly to blog about: skincare, books, movies, makeup, and maybe some other random things that get recommended to me. I figured Instagram basically knows my shoe size and what time I was born, and their ads are so well-curated to me, that I should have tons of material to work with.

But, if you guys have any recommendations, please feel free to shout them out.

Let's create something fun together,

Malmal
